Finding yourself
Discovery your own sense of belonging, meaning and purpose in life.
It is one thing to know yourself. Such as what you like or dislike. But is another different aspect to really find yourself in terms of what you aspire to be, what makes your heart beat, your values to name a few.
It isn’t simply about being a ‘best’ or ‘better’ version. Ultimately, it comes down to coming to terms of what your strengths, abilities, skills, positive attributes as well as other important areas that so easily I think gets misplaced or forgotten about.
To clarify, we are not just words by association. We are all living, breathing, different individuals that have something to bring and offer in many ways. It is about ticking all the boxes or being the ‘perfect’ person. In order, to really understand and what it means to find your authentic self.
This at times, does consist of putting yourself in uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations. A small time pain or a lifetime pleasure. Things are temporary and ever evolving and changing more than we could possibly imagine.
It is not about being number one or being good at everything. Through life there are many different situations we find ourselves in some new, some old. Being flexible, open-minded and adaptable isn’t always as straightforward.
With time, we learn and approach things in a way that we can then use as a positive. Finding yourself does not mean going to extreme measures or forcing yourself to be put in a position where you may not agree with.
There is an element of compromise and vulnerability. Once you start to reflect, pause and assess things through your life. Hopefully, you will get a more clearer and visual understanding of your life’s choices, discovering who you are - your purpose for instance.
We can approach our day-to-day with care, content, openness and pleasure. This does not have to come at a price of diminishing ourselves or allowing ourselves to receive less.
We all have our own values and fulfilment in what makes us feel good about ourselves. It may seem like a request or perhaps unimaginable but with forward thinking and being open not only to ourselves but each other we can enhance and transform the way we prioritize our life, decision making and allowing, accepting and acknowledging this is a step that is worth pursuing.
Things are not going to change instantly but over time once the initial step has been taken. There are no limitations of what can be achieved.
